Introduction[]

Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, is the main protagonist of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia. He's also one of the main protagonists in War of Discoveries.

Personality[]

Even before gaining a quirk from ALL MIGHT, Izuku believed in standing up and protecting the weak even when the odds were at staked against him as seen when he ran to try and save Katsuki Bakugo from the Sludge Villain despite lacking a quirk and his vow to save Eri no matter what the cost.

For most the time Izuku comes off as timed, shy, quiet and fairly polite young boy frequently overreacting to abnormal situations with exaggerated expressions. Due to years of being looked down by Katsuki for lacking a Quirk, he is initially portrayed as insecure, tearful, and non-expressive.

However, as time when went in his U.A he gradually became more confident and mature in himself showing off his keen intellect and leadership skills as such he considers among the strongest fighters and one most of the intelligent in his class.

Izuku is a quite diligent and strong-willed student, being extremely (and sometimes scarily) enthusiastic about topics related to heroes. His dream drives him to write down notes about everything he learns in regard to heroes' Quirks and fighting capabilities. Izuku externalizes his observations through endless mumbling, a habit that annoys or creeps out his peers.

Izuku is huge fan of hero related topics from comic books to Pro-Heroes to that they are surprised at his vast knowledge. To most people that comes off as a bit of fan boy and nerd.

Of all heroes, the Symbol of Peace All Might has impacted and modeled Izuku's life the most. Many of Izuku's decisions and actions result from his desire to become a Pro Hero similar to All Might, and thus he has a great devotion for him.

History (My Hero Academia Series)[]

Young Izuku

Izuku as a child

Izuku was born to Inko Midoriya and Hiashi Midoriya. As a child he greatly admired Pro-Heroes like All Might and dream to become himself. At some point he met Katsuki Bakugo on which the two became best friends. When he reached the age of when people usually manifested their quirks and he did not, his mother took him to a doctor to were upon that they received bad news. That he has two joints on his pinky toe which meant he would never have a Quirk. Later on, Izuku kept watching videos of All Might that night on his computer and tearfully asked his mother if he could still become a hero. She hugged him and apologized, words that Izuku would remember as not what he wanted to hear because they made him feel inadequate to those with Quirks.

Even so, Izuku still kept aiming to be a hero and to get into U.A. High School. This ambition led him to be constantly bullied and ridiculed by his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo and his classmates, who believed it was impossible for someone without a Quirk to ever become a hero. Despite this, Izuku still considered the two of them to be friends at the time, but things escalated when Izuku tried to help Katsuki after he fell off a small bridge into a stream. Izuku offered a helping hand, but Katsuki's pride caused him to take this an insult. He believed that Izuku made him appear as if he needed aid from someone who is beneath him. This would strain the relationship between the two for years to come.

During his final year Aldera Junior High Izuku decides to attempt to enroll at U.A High School. Katsuki after hearing this from the teacher, he berates Izuku and uses his Explosion Quirk to scare him, claiming that someone who is Quirkless cannot get into U.A. and cannot do anything at all. Upon which he takes his Hero Notebook burns it and tosses it out the window he proceeds to warn him not to apply for U.A.

All might meets deku

The Faithful Encounter between Izuku and All Might

After school while walking home he was attacked by Sludge Villain. The villain decided that to avoid detection, he should take over Izuku's body. Just as Izuku fell into despair, All Might showed up and saved him. Stunned, Izuku asked for an autograph but finds All Might left it for him before he could ask the questions he had on his mind. Clinging to his leg while he launched himself into the air. After a brief struggle, All Might agreed with Izuku that he would die if he had let go and they soon landed safely on a rooftop. Where Izuku asked if he could become a hero without a quirk. Telling All Might that he always wanted to be a hero and save people.

Suddenly, All Might's appearance drastically changes to a more skeletal form. All Might reveals to the shocked young man that he was injured in a battle five years ago and can only stay in his hero form for a short period of time. He goes on to tell Izuku that professionals must always put their lives at stake to save the day and thus cannot openly say whether it is possible to be a Hero without a Quirk as it may not be possible. All Might says that if Izuku cares about saving people, he can always go on to become a policeman, as in that way he can be responsible for putting the villains in jail (even though it is a ridiculing job). He tells Izuku that it is not bad to dream but warns him not to obscure the facts and then leaves.

Heartbroken by the words from his idol he starts to have doubts over his dream. However, before he can enquire on it further, he comes across a villain attack by the same one who attacked him earlier and seeing the victim he has captured is Katsuki. He rushes to try and save him despite being Quirkless. All Might, inspired by his actions, rushes in and saves both of them before the villain could attack Izuku.

The Pro Heroes at the scene started berating Izuku for his reckless behavior. Katsuki became so mad that he was nearly saved by Izuku, that he caught up to him and told him that he was not saved by him at all before angrily walking away. Not long after he is approached by All Might who thanks him as he reminded him what it meant to be a hero, and then explained that what he did was what most top heroes did in their younger days, this made him tell Izuku that he can become a hero as he offered him the chance to become one picking the young lad as his successor.

All Might then proceeded to explain the power behind his Quirk and that he can transfer it to another person, however because of the sheer power behind it, he must train his body to a point he can handle it otherwise he could lose his limbs at his current strength. All Might then begins to train him at the Takoba Municipal Beach Park by moving large pieces of garbage around, such as trucks, large office drawers, various craters, and bookshelves.

Powers and Abilities[]

Izuku’s greatest asset prior to receiving his Quirk was his vast knowledge of fundamental hero skills and tactics. Izuku studied pro-heroes for years and is able to apply that knowledge during crisis situations in a practical manner. His immense bravery and desire to become a hero was also a key factor greatly in helping his ability to protect himself and others. Which leads Toshinori Yagi, (also known as All Might), the former Number One Pro Hero, chose him to be his successor for his Quirk One For All.

Quirks[]

One For All

Izuku's One For All in use.

One For All: Given to him from Toshinori Yagi, or, as he’s more commonly referred to as, All Might, Izuku's Quirk gives him access to stockpiled power, granting him superhuman strength and greatly enhanced agility and mobility by spreading his power through his body.

Though he has yet to demonstrate superhuman speed, immense reflexes, and durability on the level of All Might, Izuku has shown to be able to properly control a small percentage of One For All's power, using it to enhance his strength, speed, and agility. If Izuku does not keep One For All below his current limit of 20%, his body can be immensely damaged by the force of his movements. Izuku has also displayed a type of mental connection to the previous users of One For All.

Recently, Izuku's reflexes and speed have improved with the use of One For All, being able to hold his ground against various incoming attacks during the Provisional License exam. Izuku's control of One For All has improved as his current maximum is 20% of One For All's power while in Full Cowl, at the time of U.A's Cultural Festival. This has improved even further, as he's now capable of using 30% of One For All during his fight against the Deacon, Enko.

Another aspect of One For All is that now the Quirk factors of the previous holders have merged with the core of One For All and have drastically increased in strength since. This grants Izuku the ability to access and utilize the Quirks of the previous holders of One For All.

  • One For All: Full Cowl: Through his training with Gran Torino, Izuku was able to unlock this stage of his power and get better control of his Quirk. This technique allows Izuku to activate 30% (previously 5% which was then improved to 8% to 20%) of One For All throughout his body, letting the power course and flow through him instead of concentrating it in one location. According to Izuku, this technique gives him greater maneuverability. this technique gives him enhanced strength, speed, mobility and agility. It also prevents him from breaking his bones when attacking. The cost of using this technique reduces the damage of how much his attacks do since instead of centering the power into a certain area, Izuku spreads it throughout his body.

Aura[]

After Team RWBY activated Aura for him and his classmates, Izuku is now capable of using Aura as a shield and is now capable of using extrasensory senses as well as having the potential of unlocking a Semblance.
